Bardiglio Nuvolato
Guide

Bardiglio Nuvolato marble: the complete guide

Bardiglio Nuvolato is a grey marble from the Apuan Alps with a soft "cloudy" pattern. Marmi di Carrara quarries it from its own quarry, with good availability and large blocks.

History and origin

Bardiglio has accompanied the history of Apuan marble for centuries: it can be found in historic floors of churches and palaces, often alternating with white. Nuvolato comes from a quarry owned by Marmi di Carrara, which directly manages extraction and block selection and can guarantee uniform supplies even for large projects.

Look and veining

A medium grey background with lighter and darker shades blending into a soft, cloud-like pattern. The veining is less sharp than in Bardiglio Imperiale and variation between slabs is limited: a valuable quality for large floors and continuous cladding.

Recommended uses

Thanks to its good wear resistance and large blocks it is ideal for floors in homes, hotels and commercial spaces, stairs, interior and exterior cladding, bathroom and kitchen tops and street furniture. With non-slip finishes (bush-hammered, flamed, sandblasted) it is also used outdoors and around pools, checking the installation for the climate.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral detergents; the soft grey hides dust and small marks well. Avoid acids and aggressive salts, also outdoors. Treat exterior surfaces with a water-repellent and kitchen and bathroom surfaces with a stain-proof sealer.

Pairings

  • With Bianco Carrara in checkerboard or running-bond floors.
  • With natural wood and greenery for relaxing interiors.
  • With steel and glass in contemporary commercial spaces.

FAQ

Why is it called Nuvolato?

Because of the softened pattern of its grey background, which resembles clouds, without sharp veins.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes, it is also suitable outdoors with non-slip finishes and adequate thicknesses; we assess climate and installation together.

Is it available in large quantities?

Yes: the quarry is ours, with good availability and medium to large blocks.

Nuvolato or Imperiale?

Nuvolato is more uniform and suited to large surfaces; Imperiale has bolder veins and blue reflections.
