History and origin
Jet Mist is quarried in the eastern United States and is widespread above all on the North American market for kitchen worktops and cladding. The name recalls its characteristic 'mist' of light specks on a dark background. It is a stone commercially classed as granite, valued for its refined appearance even with matt finishes. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is black with grey highlights, scattered with tiny white and grey flecks that create a misty effect. The density of the speckling may vary slightly from one slab to another. Polished, it looks deep and almost mirror-like, while with brushed or antiqued finishes it takes on a very contemporary anthracite grey tone.

Recommended uses
Highly suitable for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom vanity tops and window sills, thanks to its low porosity. It also works for floors, stairs and exterior cladding. On matt finishes fingerprints are less visible than on polished ones, something to consider for heavily used kitchens.
Care and maintenance
A wipe with a damp cloth and neutral detergent is sufficient for everyday use. On brushed finishes a water- and oil-repellent treatment prevents grease marks and keeps the colour even.

What is the difference between Jet Mist and an absolute black?
Absolute black has a background almost devoid of pattern, whereas Jet Mist shows a haze of light specks that adds movement and makes dust and small marks less visible.

Polished brings out the depth of the black; brushed or antiqued is more textured and better at hiding fingerprints and marks.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, it withstands frost and the weather; dark surfaces heat up in the sun, so for exposed paving the thermal aspect should also be considered.
