African Juparana Granite: complete guide

African Juparana is a veined granite with a pinkish grey background and well-defined dark and light waves. It is chosen for resistant surfaces with a natural, dynamic pattern.

History and origin

It is also sold as Juparana Africa and is widely available on the international market as an imported granite. Despite the name, the designation is commercial and does not guarantee an African origin: this should be checked on the batch. It belongs to the group of veined granites of metamorphic origin. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The pinkish grey background is crossed by wavy dark grey, white and pink veins, sometimes with dark garnets. The pattern is marked and changes from slab to slab. Polished, it offers sharp contrasts; honed or brushed, it has a softer, more uniform look.

FAQ

Does African Juparana come from Africa?

Not necessarily: it is a trade name and the actual origin depends on the batch, which we state in our offer.

Is it suitable for a high-traffic floor?

Yes, it is highly resistant to wear; indoors a honed finish reduces slipperiness compared with polished.

What is the difference from Juparana Classico?

African has a greyer background and bolder contrasts, while Classico is warmer and pinkish beige.
