Cipollino Apuano marble: the complete guide
Cipollino Apuano is a marble with green and grey bands, like the layers of an onion, hence the name. A material with an antique, original feel.
History and origin
The name "cipollino" (little onion) refers to marbles with wavy layers resembling a cut onion: Greek cipollino was already highly prized in Roman times. The Apuan variety is quarried in Versilia and has been used in churches, floors and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
