Gris Siboney: the complete guide
Gris Siboney is a silvery grey marble of Cuban origin, with a cool, refined tone. It is chosen for elegant interiors looking for a less common natural grey.
History and origin
Cuba has marble deposits worked for local construction and, to a lesser extent, for export. Gris Siboney is one of the Cuban marbles sold on the international market, a niche material with variable availability. The name recalls the Siboney culture of the island's early inhabitants. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is grey with silvery highlights, crossed by lighter or darker veins depending on the slab. Variation between blocks can be significant, both in tone and in the density of the veining. Polishing enhances the silvery brightness; honing gives a softer, velvety grey.
