Jhansi Red Granite: complete guide

Jhansi Red is an Indian red granite with a regular grain and small dark specks evenly distributed. It is chosen for warm, resistant surfaces suited to both interiors and exteriors.

History and origin

The name recalls the Jhansi area in northern India, from where its commercial spread began. It is a classic granite, long used for paving, street furniture, monuments and worktops. Its regularity also makes it suitable for large-quantity supplies. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is brick red or vivid red, with medium-sized black and grey crystals. The pattern is fairly homogeneous and differences between slabs are limited. Polished, it takes on an intense, glossy red; flamed, it becomes lighter and pinker, with a rough surface.

Recommended uses

Highly recommended for outdoor paving, stairs, kerbs, street furniture and façade cladding. Indoors it lends itself to kitchen worktops and bathroom tops for those who love warm tones.

Care and maintenance

Outdoors it only requires periodic washing with water and a neutral detergent. In the kitchen an oil-repellent impregnating sealer keeps the surface easier to clean.

Pairings

  • light grey stone for borders and floor patterns
  • Corten steel or burnished iron
  • teak for outdoor furniture

FAQ

Does Jhansi Red fade in the sun?

Being a granite, its colour is stable under UV rays. Outdoors, however, a polished finish tends to lose its shine over time due to weathering.

Which finish for outdoor stairs?

Flamed or bush-hammered, which offer good grip even when wet. Only the risers can be left polished for a richer effect.

Is it suitable for a large floor?

Yes, its regular grain makes it one of the easiest reds to lay over large surfaces with a consistent result.

How do I order it?

Tell us the formats, thicknesses and finishes: we will send you a quote and photos of the material; for large quantities we can offer slabs or tiles from a single batch.
