History and origin
Zimbabwe is known on the international market above all for its dark, compact stones, exported in blocks and slabs. The name recalls the Munyati River, which runs through the centre of the country. Munyati Green is a green variant of this production. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is very dark green, almost black, with tiny crystals that give green glints in the light. The grain is fine and homogeneous, and variation between slabs is generally limited. Polishing makes it deep and mirror-like; honed or brushed, it shows a dark, matt green.

Recommended uses
Excellent for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, floors, stairs and cladding, including outdoors. It is also suitable for funerary art and memorials, because its polish lasts over time.
Care and maintenance
Clean with a neutral detergent and dry to avoid limescale marks, which are more visible on dark polished stones. Thanks to its low absorption it does not need frequent treatments.
Pairings
- white marble or light quartzite for contrast
- elm or natural oak
- polished brass
FAQ
Is it similar to Zimbabwe's black granites?
It has the compactness and fine grain of the country's dark stones, but with green glints clearly visible on polished surfaces.
Does it scratch easily?
No, its high hardness makes it very resistant to scratches from everyday use; it is nonetheless best not to cut directly on the worktop.
Does it show fingerprints and marks?
On dark polished surfaces fingerprints and limescale are more noticeable: a honed or brushed finish is more practical for heavily used kitchens.
