History and origin
It comes from Brazil and takes its name from the coastal town of Ubatuba. In petrographic terms it is a charnockite-type rock, sold as granite. It is very widespread internationally, particularly for kitchen worktops. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The very dark green background is speckled with black, green and golden crystals of medium grain. The pattern is uniform and the slabs are very similar to each other. Polished, it looks almost black with green highlights; honed or brushed, it takes on a more contemporary matt dark green.

Recommended uses
Excellent for kitchen worktops, counters, bathroom tops, floors and cladding, including outdoors. On outdoor floors a non-polished finish is recommended for grip.

It absorbs very little, so it is very easy to maintain: neutral detergent and a soft cloth. On dark polished surfaces marks and fingerprints show, but they can be removed by drying with a microfibre cloth.

FAQ

Is it a good choice for the kitchen?
Yes, it is one of the most suitable materials: very low absorption, high hardness and acid resistance.
