Ocre Itabira Granite: complete guide

History and origin

It comes from Brazil and the name recalls Itabira, a town in the state of Minas Gerais. It belongs to the Brazilian yellow and golden granites widely found in international trade. Like many materials in this group, it is often resin-treated in slab form. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The ochre-gold background is enlivened by brown veins and grey and black crystals, with lighter areas. Variability between slabs is medium, especially in colour intensity. Polished, it shows a warm, deep yellow; honed, it looks lighter and softer.

Recommended uses

Recommended for kitchen worktops, bathrooms, floors and interior cladding. It can be used outdoors, but on resin-treated material the resin may deteriorate with prolonged exposure to the sun: it is best to assess the batch.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral detergents and apply a stain-repellent protective treatment periodically. Avoid strong solvents, which could attack the surface resin.
