History and origin
It is an imported material widely available on the international market, belonging to the family of commercial granites with lively patterns. Stones of this type are often gneissic or migmatitic in nature, and it is precisely their metamorphic origin that explains the undulations that characterise them. Look and veining
The background ranges from mid brown to dark tobacco, crossed by lighter and darker wavy bands that give depth to the surface. Is the wavy pattern the same on all slabs?
No, each slab has its own movement and even two consecutive slabs from the same block can differ. That is why it is advisable to choose the slabs in person or from photos of the whole lot.
Is it suitable for a kitchen worktop?
Yes, like most granites it stands up well to heat, scratches and food acids. It only needs protecting with a stain-proofing product, especially in areas with lighter, more open veining.
Polished or brushed?
Polished enhances the pattern and makes the colours deeper; brushed or leather is more matt, hides fingerprints and small marks better and is pleasant to the touch.
