Arabescato Faniello: complete guide
Arabescato Faniello is a white Tuscan marble from the arabescato family, with grey veins that interweave in a lively pattern. It appeals to those looking for a classic marble with a vibrant look, suitable both for large surfaces and for furnishing elements.
History and origin
It belongs to the group of Apuan marbles sold under the name arabescato, a term that describes irregular, branching veining on a light background. It is a stone from the Tuscan quarrying district, where these marbles have been worked for generations. As with all natural marbles, availability and characteristics depend on the quarry face and the batch. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
Grey veins in different shades run across a white or white-grey background, darker and more marked in places, creating an almost net-like effect. Slabs can differ greatly in pattern density, so for large projects it is advisable to select a single batch. A polished finish increases the contrast, while a brushed finish gives the marble a more textured look.

Recommended for interior walls and floors, bathrooms, stair cladding and bespoke furniture. Less suitable where acidic substances are frequently spilt or where a surface must withstand frost and weather without maintenance.
Care and maintenance

FAQ
What does arabescato mean?
It is a traditional term used by Apuan stonemasons for white marbles with dense, branching veins, often with small islands of white enclosed between the veins. It differs from Statuario and Calacatta, which have sparser or broader veining.
Is it suitable for a bathroom with a shower?
Yes, it is suitable as wall cladding and for a bespoke shower tray, provided it is treated and cleaned with neutral products. For the shower floor a non-polished finish is recommended, as it is safer and less prone to showing marks.
Are all the slabs the same?
No: being a natural material, each slab has its own pattern. For continuous surfaces you can request slabs from the same block, including book-matched layouts.
