Rouge Languedoc is a bright red French marble with white and grey patches and veins. It is a historic material, chosen for decorative work and prestigious restorations.
History and origin
It comes from Languedoc, in the south of France, a region with a long tradition of red marble quarrying. Materials of this kind have been used for centuries in civil and religious architecture, for fireplaces, columns and cladding. Today availability is limited. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is a vivid red, sometimes tending towards coral red, with white and grey patches, clouding and veins. The pattern is irregular and highly variable between slabs. Polished, the red becomes intense and glossy, enhancing the contrast with the light areas.

Recommended uses
Recommended for fireplaces, inlays, columns, cladding, furniture tops and restoration. It lends itself to decorative interior floors in combination with other marbles. Not suitable for exteriors or kitchen worktops.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral detergents, avoiding any acidic product. Protect with an impregnating sealer and marble wax. Dullness can be corrected with professional polishing.
