Botticino Fiorito: the complete guide
Botticino Fiorito is a beige marble from the Brescia area with a cream background and a dense pattern of veins and stylolites. It is the most dynamic variant of Botticino, appreciated for floors and cladding with a classic feel.
History and origin
Botticino is quarried in the hills east of Brescia and is one of the best-known Italian marbles in the world. It has been used for monumental buildings, including the Vittoriano in Rome, and for countless floors and stairs. The Fiorito grade is recognised by its greater amount of veining compared with Classico. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is creamy beige, enriched by thin veins, patches and golden-brown stylolites that form a dense, lively pattern. The amount of veining varies between slabs, but the overall effect remains warm and homogeneous. Polished, it looks bright and silky; tumbled or brushed, it takes on a more rustic charm.

| Classification | compact limestone (commercial marble) |
|---|---|
| Bulk density | approx. 2,700 kg/m³ (indicative) |
| Mohs hardness | approx. 3 |
| Water absorption | low |

Recommended uses
Perfect for floors, stairs, cladding, bathrooms, thresholds and windowsills. Thanks to its compactness it is also used outdoors for cladding and steps. On kitchen worktops it remains sensitive to acids, so it must be treated and used with care.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral or marble-specific soaps; outdoors, a water repellent reduces the absorption of dirt. Stains from acidic substances should be removed immediately. The polish on floors can be restored by professional honing and polishing.
Pairings
- Nero Marquina marble for bands and chequerboards
- cherry or walnut wood
- wrought iron and antique brass
