History and origin

It comes from the Vosges area in north-eastern France, a region with a long tradition of granite working. The grey granites of this region have historically been used in construction, street furniture and funerary art. Look and veining

The background is light grey, with white and grey crystals and small dark specks distributed fairly regularly. It has no marked veining: the pattern is granular and homogeneous, with slight differences in tone between different blocks. Polishing slightly darkens the grey and brings out the crystals, while flaming and bush-hammering lighten it and make it more rustic.

Recommended uses

It is suitable for floors, stairs, thresholds, windowsills, kitchen worktops and exterior cladding, thanks to its resistance to wear and frost. In flamed or bush-hammered finishes it is also suitable for outdoor paving and street furniture. It has no particular drawbacks, other than the need to choose slip-resistant finishes where there is water.

Care and maintenance

For everyday cleaning, water and a neutral detergent are enough. A periodic water- and oil-repellent treatment reduces the absorption of greasy stains, especially on kitchen worktops. Avoid very aggressive or abrasive products that can dull the polish.
