Gris Plata Granite: the complete guide

Gris Plata Granite is a silver-grey Spanish granite with a regular grain and an elegant appearance. It is chosen as a versatile grey for floors, façades and worktops.

History and origin

Spain is one of Europe's leading granite producers, with quarrying areas mainly in the north-west and west of the country. Spanish grey granites are widely used in construction, street furniture and public paving. Gris Plata, whose name means "silver grey", is part of this tradition. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is light grey with silvery highlights, due to crystals of quartz, white feldspar and dark mica. The pattern is granular and uniform, with limited variation between blocks. Polished, it takes on a deeper, glossy grey; flamed and bush-hammered, it becomes light and even, ideal for exteriors.
