Juparana Itaoca Granite: complete guide

Juparana Itaoca is a beige Brazilian granite with a wavy pattern. It is chosen to combine the resistance of granite with a veined, natural appearance.

History and origin

Itaoca is a locality in the state of Espírito Santo, a very important area for stone quarrying and processing in Brazil. Juparana materials have an oriented, gneissic structure and are sold as granites. This variety is used in slabs for tops and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The greyish-beige background is crossed by lighter and darker wavy veins, with crystals of various sizes. The pattern is lively and varies between slabs, sometimes with pinkish or brown areas. Polished, the veins become sharp; honed, the whole appears softer.

Apply a stain-proofing protector and repeat it periodically. Clean with a neutral detergent; avoid products based on strong acids or solvents. Wipe up oil and coloured liquids on light areas immediately.

FAQ

How does it differ from Juparana Dourado?

Itaoca has more beige-grey tones, Dourado more yellow and golden ones; both have a wavy, gneissic pattern.

Is it as resistant as a granite?

Yes, it has similar hardness and acid resistance; its oriented structure does not compromise its use for tops and floors.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes, for thresholds, window sills and cladding; on walkable surfaces rough finishes are better.

How do I order it?

Send us sizes and finish: we will send you a quote and photos of the available slabs so you can choose the pattern.
