Strzegom Granite: complete guide

History and origin

It takes its name from the town of Strzegom, in Lower Silesia, historically one of the most important areas for granite quarrying in Poland. This granite has long been used for paving, kerbs, steps, cladding and monuments in Central Europe. It is available as slabs, blocks and setts. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is light to medium grey, with white feldspar crystals, grey quartz and black mica distributed evenly. The appearance is homogeneous, with slight differences in tone between batches. Polished, it looks more contrasted; flamed and bush-hammered, lighter and more uniform.

Recommended uses

Suitable for squares, pavements, setts, kerbs, stairs, façades and interior floors. It can also be used for worktops and bathroom vanity tops. For vehicular areas it is advisable to choose thicknesses and formats suited to the load.

Care and maintenance

Clean with water and a neutral detergent; outdoors, wash periodically. A water repellent helps against oil stains. Avoid repeated use of very aggressive de-icing salts.
