History and origin
It comes from Cumbria, in north-west England, a region with a long tradition of slate quarrying. This material has been used for centuries for roofs, floors and cladding, in Britain and abroad. Today it is also chosen for contemporary interiors, kitchens and public spaces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is grey with bluish nuances, with a very fine grain and uniform appearance. Slight variations in tone and thin lines may appear, especially on natural riven surfaces. A honed finish gives a velvety, modern effect; natural riven retains an irregular, non-slip surface.

Recommended uses
It is suitable for roofing, indoor and outdoor floors, stairs, façade cladding, window sills, kitchen worktops and bathrooms. As with all slates, the surface can scratch more than a granite, but marks soften as it develops a patina with use.
Care and maintenance
Clean with water and neutral detergents; treatment with specific slate products revives the colour and protects against stains. Avoid waxes, which make the surface slippery.
