History and origin
Quarried in the area north of Bari, between Trani and the neighbouring towns, it is a compact limestone that has shaped the architectural identity of Apulia. For centuries it has been used for civil and religious buildings, paving, stairs and decoration, and its workability has made it popular outside the region too. Look and veining
The background is ivory or light beige, with sparse thin veins and small, barely perceptible specks. Variation between slabs is low, a useful feature for large floors and continuous cladding. Polishing gives it a refined, marble-like look, while brushed and antiqued finishes bring out its rustic side.

It is used for indoor and outdoor floors, stairs, thresholds, windowsills, façade cladding and bathrooms. In the kitchen it is possible only if you accept the marks acids leave; for heavily used worktops granites or quartzites are preferable.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral soaps or products specific to limestones, avoiding acidic or abrasive products. On such a light background a preventive stain-proofing treatment is important, especially against oils, wine and coffee.
