Carmen Red Granite: complete guide

History and origin

It comes from Finland, a country with a solid tradition of quarrying and exporting red granites. Finnish granites are valued for their compactness and durability, in construction as in funerary art. The tone of Carmen Red may vary slightly between batches. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The vivid red background is made up of large feldspars, with grey quartz and black minerals creating a granular pattern. Differences between slabs are moderate and mainly concern the intensity of the red. Polished, it shows a brilliant, deep colour; flamed, it becomes pinkish and matt.

Recommended uses

Suitable for monuments, façades, steps, paving and street furniture. Indoors it is used for worktops, thresholds and cladding with a bold character.

Care and maintenance

Clean with water and a neutral detergent; outdoors, periodic washing is sufficient. On interior worktops an impregnating sealer makes cleaning easier.
