Granito Rosso Erika
Guide

Rosso Erika Granite: the complete guide

Rosso Erika is a red granite from India, compact and hard-wearing. It is chosen when colour and strength are needed, indoors as well as outdoors.

History and origin

India is one of the world's leading producers of coloured granites, and Indian reds have been used in construction and interiors for decades. Rosso Erika belongs to this family of materials, valued for their durability and colour. Marmi di Carrara has handled it in blocks and slabs and supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is red, with a crystalline grain in which dark minerals can be seen, distributed fairly evenly. Compared with marbles, variation between slabs is limited, although tone and grain may change slightly between blocks. Polishing brings out the red, while flaming and brushing make it more matt and slip-resistant.

Recommended uses

Suitable for kitchen worktops, floors, stairs, thresholds, windowsills, façades and outdoor paving. Textured finishes are recommended for exteriors and wet areas; it should only be avoided where a light, neutral look is desired.

Care and maintenance

It requires little maintenance: water and a neutral detergent are enough. A periodic impregnating sealer on kitchen worktops helps prevent oil stains.

FAQ

Is it good for a kitchen worktop?

Yes, it is hard and stands up well to heat, scratches and food acids; with an impregnating sealer, grease stains remain on the surface.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes, it is frost-resistant; for outdoor floors and stairs a flamed or bush-hammered finish is advisable.

How does it differ from red marbles?

Granite is much harder and unaffected by acids, whereas red marbles have more pronounced veining but are more delicate.
