History and origin
The Harcourt area, in central Victoria, has long been known for quarrying grey granite, used in the region's buildings. The stone has been used for bases, flights of steps, monuments and cladding. It is a typical material of Australian architecture, now also offered as slabs for contemporary projects. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is grey with light quartz and feldspar crystals and dark mica specks distributed evenly. The pattern is regular and slabs are fairly similar to one another. Polishing gives a brilliant grey with moderate contrast; rough finishes a more uniform light grey.

Recommended uses
Recommended for steps, bases, outdoor paving, façades and monuments. Indoors it lends itself to floors, kitchen worktops and bathrooms with an understated style. For outdoor pedestrian areas choose flamed or bush-hammered finishes.
Care and maintenance
Minimal maintenance with neutral detergents; outdoors, periodic cleaning removes biological films. A stain-proofing impregnator is useful on kitchen worktops.
