Metten Granite: complete guide
Metten granite is a compact, resistant grey granite from Bavaria. It is chosen above all for outdoor paving, massive worked pieces and projects where durability matters.
History and origin
It takes its name from Metten, a Bavarian village on the edge of the Bavarian Forest, an area historically linked to granite quarrying. Bavarian granites have been used for centuries in Germany for building, paving, kerbs and public works. It is a material of Central European tradition, less common on the Italian market. Look and veining
The background is grey, with light feldspar and quartz crystals and dark minerals evenly distributed. The pattern is sober and regular, with slight variations in tone between blocks. Flamed and bush-hammered finishes make it lighter and more rustic; honing makes it darker and more compact.

Care and maintenance
Outdoors, periodic washing with water is enough; for stubborn dirt use detergents made for granite. A water repellent reduces moss and stains in damp areas. Avoid overly aggressive de-icing salts on polished finishes.
