History and origin
It comes from Finland, where coloured granites have long been quarried and worked for the domestic market and for export. Pinkish varieties are traditionally used in building, street furniture and monuments. Järppilä is a niche material, known mainly to trade professionals. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The pink background is broken up by grains of grey quartz and scattered dark minerals. The grain tends towards medium-coarse, with a lively but regular pattern. Polished finishes make the pink more saturated; flamed ones paler.
