History and origin

It comes from India and is a rock with a migmatitic structure, that is, with interwoven light and dark bands. It has long been on the European market, where it was widely used for kitchens, bathrooms and cladding from the 1990s onwards. Several variants are available, lighter or darker depending on the quarrying area. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background alternates grey, lilac and dark violet, with lighter bands and swirls creating a dynamic effect. Each slab has its own movement and blocks can differ in the intensity of the violet. Polishing accentuates the colour contrasts, while flaming softens them into a more rustic pinkish grey surface.

Recommended uses

It works well for kitchen worktops, bathroom tops, thresholds, window sills and façade cladding. For large floors it is better to select slabs from the same block, because the very lively pattern makes differences evident.

Care and maintenance

Clean with water and a neutral detergent, without any special precautions. A water- and oil-repellent impregnating sealer applied every one or two years keeps the surface better protected from greasy stains.
