Juparana Bahia Granite: complete guide

Juparana Bahia is a Brazilian granite with a golden beige background and wavy veins. It combines the warm, lively look of a veined stone with the robustness typical of granites.

History and origin

It belongs to the commercial Juparana family, veined Brazilian granites that geologically are often migmatites or gneisses. The name refers to the state of Bahia, but the designation remains a commercial one. It is very popular for worktops and floors with a classic feel. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The golden beige background is crossed by lighter and darker wavy bands, with clearly visible quartz and feldspar crystals. Slabs vary considerably in pattern, so careful selection is recommended for continuous surfaces. Polishing brings out the golden tones; honing gives a softer effect.

Recommended uses

Suitable for kitchen worktops, bathrooms, floors and cladding. Outdoors it can be used for paving and window sills with a suitable finish, bearing in mind that the veined areas may have slightly different porosity.

Care and maintenance

Clean with water and a neutral detergent; avoid overly alkaline products, which dull the polish over time. A stain-repellent protector helps keep the golden colour even.

FAQ

What does Juparana mean?

It is a trade name used for a group of veined granites, mostly Brazilian, characterised by waves of colour; it does not refer to a single quarry.

Is it suitable for the kitchen?

Yes: it resists scratches, heat and food acids, and is a classic choice for worktops.

How are the veins matched on a long worktop?

We work with slabs from the same batch and plan the cuts so that the veins continue coherently across the joints.
