Rosso Veneziano Granite: complete guide

Rosso Veneziano, or Vermelho Veneziano, is a Brazilian granite in a reddish-brown shade. It is chosen for a warm, bold effect with the durability typical of granite.

History and origin

Although the name evokes Venice, it is a granite imported from Brazil and sold under a fanciful name. It is part of the wide range of Brazilian red granites used in building and furnishing. It is found mainly in slabs for tops and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is red with brownish hues, enriched by dark and grey crystals in a medium-coarse grain. The pattern may show slight clusters of minerals, with differences in tone between slabs. Polished, it is warm and deep; honed, it appears more matt and earthy.

Recommended uses

Suitable for kitchen worktops, thresholds, window sills, stairs, floors and exterior cladding. It works well in classic or rustic settings and as a contrast in contemporary projects. Outdoors, rough finishes are better on walkable surfaces.

Care and maintenance

Use pH-neutral detergents and soft cloths. On kitchen worktops a stain-proofing treatment makes it easier to clean oil and sauces. Avoid scourers and abrasive powders on the polished finish.

Pairings

  • cream or ivory doors
  • wrought iron and burnished brass
  • Tuscan cotto and timber beams
