Lappia Salmon Granite: the complete guide

Lappia Salmon Granite is a Finnish granite in a salmon pink tone, warm but not bright. It is valued for outdoor floors and cladding that require colour and great durability.

History and origin

As the name suggests, it is linked to Finnish Lapland, a region of very ancient crystalline rocks. Pink and red granites are among Finland's best-known products and have been used for decades in construction, urban paving and memorials. Lappia Salmon belongs to this family, with a lighter, more delicate shade. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The salmon pink background comes from the feldspars, dotted with grey quartz grains and dark mica. The grain is generally medium and regular, with variations in the intensity of the pink between different blocks. Polished, it appears more saturated; flamed and sandblasted, it takes on a paler, dustier look.

FAQ

Is it suitable for outdoor pedestrian paving?

Yes, with a flamed, sandblasted or bush-hammered finish it is slip-resistant and withstands frost, salts and wear well.

Does the colour stay stable over time?

Yes, granite does not fade in light; the tone may appear lighter only because of textured finishes or surface dirt, which is removed by cleaning.

How does it differ from other pink granites?

Compared with Iberian pinks it often has a warmer tone, towards salmon; the grain varies by lot, so it is worth comparing samples.
