Salisbury Pink Granite: complete guide
Salisbury Pink is a medium-grained pink granite from North Carolina with a regular pattern. It is chosen to bring warmth of colour to façades, monuments and paving without sacrificing strength.
History and origin
The Salisbury area of North Carolina has a tradition of quarrying pink granite linked to both construction and memorial work. The material is valued in the United States for its warm, consistent tone. It is available as slabs, blocks and exterior pieces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The pink background is formed by pinkish feldspars alternating with grey quartz and tiny black crystals. The pattern is granular and fairly homogeneous, with slight variations in the intensity of the pink between different blocks. Polishing intensifies the colour, while flamed finishes make it softer and more powdery.

Recommended uses
Recommended for monuments, façade cladding, flights of steps and outdoor floors. Indoors it can be used for floors, thresholds and kitchen worktops by those who love warm tones. It has no significant technical limitations, but its colour should be carefully assessed against the other materials in the project.
Care and maintenance
Cleaning with neutral detergents is sufficient; outdoors it is useful to periodically remove leaves and deposits that can leave marks. A water-repellent protector can be applied to the surfaces most exposed to staining.
Pairings
- sand-coloured plaster and fair-faced brick
- graphite-painted wrought iron
- cherry or mahogany
FAQ
Does the pink tend to fade in the sun?
No, the colour depends on the rock's minerals and remains stable over time; at most, polished outdoor surfaces may lose a little shine over the years.
Which finish for outdoor stairs?
Flamed or bush-hammered, to ensure grip even in the rain; polished is preferable for vertical parts.
Is it suitable for a monument?
Yes, Salisbury Pink has a strong tradition in memorial work and takes durable engravings and polishes.
