Amarelo Paraíso Granite: the complete guide
Amarelo Paraíso is a Brazilian granite with a light yellow background, bright and warm. It is chosen when you want the strength of a silicate stone in a soft shade, far removed from the more common greys.
History and origin
Brazil is one of the world's leading producers of coloured granites, and yellow and golden shades are among its best-known specialities. Amarelo Paraíso belongs to this family of materials sold in slabs on the international market. It is used mainly in residential construction for worktops and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is a light straw yellow, with a granular texture and slight darker undulations due to the minerals present. From one block to another the shade can shift towards cream or gold, so it is advisable to select the slabs in person. Polishing brightens the yellow, while flamed or brushed finishes make it lighter and more matt.
Technical properties (indicative)
| Classification | commercial granite (silicate rock) |
|---|---|
| Bulk density | approx. 2,600-2,650 kg/m³ (indicative) |
| Mohs hardness | approx. 6-7 |
| Water absorption | low |
| Main use | interiors and exteriors |

Recommended uses
It is suitable for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, floors and stairs, including in high-traffic areas. Outdoors it works well with slip-resistant finishes such as flaming. In the lighter shades a protective treatment against oil stains should be planned.
Care and maintenance
For everyday cleaning, water and a neutral detergent are enough. A water-repellent/stain-proofing treatment applied after installation and renewed periodically limits grease absorption. Avoid harsh abrasive products on polished surfaces.
Pairings
- natural oak or light walnut cabinet doors
- brushed brass taps
- warm white or sand walls
FAQ
Is Amarelo Paraíso suitable for a kitchen worktop?
Yes, being a granite it stands up well to heat, scratches and food acids; a stain-proofing treatment is nonetheless recommended.
Is the colour uniform across slabs?
No, like any natural stone it shows variations in tone; for a project it is advisable to select slabs from a single batch.
Which finish should I choose for outdoors?
Flamed or brushed, which offer a rough, slip-resistant surface; polished is preferable for interiors.
