Viitasaari Yellow Granite: complete guide

Viitasaari Yellow is a Finnish granite in yellow-beige tones. It is chosen to achieve a warm, light effect with the resistance of an igneous rock.

History and origin

Viitasaari is in central Finland, a region of lakes and forests with several quarrying operations. Yellow granites are less common than grey and pink ones, and are appreciated for their brightness. They are used for cladding, floors and furnishing both indoors and outdoors. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background ranges from straw yellow to beige, with grey quartz crystals and dark specks. The granular pattern is regular, but the warm shade can vary between slabs. Flamed, it looks light and sandy; polished, warmer and golden.

Recommended uses

Suitable for floors, façades, steps, kitchen worktops and bathrooms. Outdoors it creates bright surfaces for squares, terraces and pool surrounds. On light kitchen worktops oil stains are more noticeable: a good protective treatment is recommended.

Care and maintenance

Clean with a neutral detergent; a water- and oil-repellent is useful, because light backgrounds show stains and rust. Avoid prolonged contact with wet metal objects.

Pairings

  • Natural oak and linen
  • Terracotta and olive green
  • Black wrought iron

FAQ

Can the yellow turn more yellow over time?

The colour is natural and stable; any marks depend on dirt or external rust, which can be prevented with a protector.

Is it suitable for a terrace?

Yes, with a flamed or brushed finish: it resists frost and heats up less than dark granites.

How does it compare as an alternative to Brazilian beige granites?

It offers a similar warm shade but of European origin; the pattern is generally more granular and less lively.

How do I order it?
