History and origin
The Portuguese name, meaning 'ace of clubs', recalls the Brazilian tradition of giving its granites evocative names. Brazil exports large quantities of granite slabs worldwide every year. Ás de Paus is less common than the commercial classics and should be assessed in slab form. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is grey, with light crystals, sometimes quite large, that give a mottled appearance. The distribution of the crystals changes between slabs, making each piece different. Polishing gives depth to the pattern, while honing makes it more matt and soft.

Recommended uses
It is suitable for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom vanity tops and cladding. It can also be used for floors and stairs, where the mottled pattern hides wear well. Outdoors a textured finish is recommended.
Care and maintenance
A neutral detergent is enough for routine maintenance. A stain-proofing product applied periodically protects kitchen worktops from grease. Avoid abrasive scourers on polished surfaces.
Pairings

FAQ
Is the pattern regular?
No, the light crystals are distributed irregularly: it is advisable to see photos of the slabs before buying.
Is it good in the kitchen?
Yes, like other granites it resists heat, scratches and food acids.
Polished or honed?
