Azul Aran Granite: complete guide

Azul Aran is a grey Spanish granite with bluish highlights and an even grain. It is a restrained, versatile choice for anyone looking for a cool, hard-wearing grey.

History and origin

Spain is one of Europe's leading granite producers, and Azul Aran belongs to the range of Spanish blue-greys widely used in construction. Thanks to its uniformity, it has long been used for paving, cladding and street furniture. It is sold as slabs, tiles and blocks. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is light to medium grey with a bluish tinge, speckled with evenly distributed black mica crystals. Slabs are generally fairly uniform, with slight differences in tone between batches. Polishing accentuates the bluish sheen, while flaming shifts it towards a more neutral light grey.

Recommended uses

It is suitable for residential and commercial floors, kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, stairs and outdoor paving. Its uniform appearance makes it practical for large areas where visual continuity is wanted. Anyone looking for a strongly veined effect should consider other materials.

Care and maintenance

Cleaning with a neutral detergent is sufficient. Rough finishes outdoors can hold dirt: periodic low-pressure washing keeps them in good order. A water repellent limits the absorption of oil and wine on worktops.

Pairings

  • pure white and high-gloss lacquers
  • chrome-plated steel
  • bleached wood or light ash
