History and origin
The name recalls the Barents Sea and the regions of Northern Europe, but it is a trade name. It is an imported material available in limited quantities on the international market. Stones with bluish highlights are appreciated in architecture for their distinctive effect. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is grey with bluish shadings, with a more or less visible crystalline grain. The intensity of the blue varies with the light and from batch to batch. Polishing enhances the cool highlights, while matt finishes accentuate the grey.

Recommended uses
It is suitable for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, cladding and floors. It also performs well outdoors for thresholds, steps and façades. It is a good alternative to grey granites when a more distinctive tone is wanted.
Care and maintenance
Clean with a neutral detergent and dry. A stain-proofing protector is recommended on worktops. Avoid waxes that can alter the shine of the polished finish.
