Blue in the Night Granite: complete guide

Blue in the Night Granite is a dark, almost black Brazilian stone with crystals that reflect blue hues. It is chosen for elegant worktops and surfaces that combine visual drama with robustness.

History and origin

It comes from Brazil and is sold as an exotic granite. The name evokes its night-like background speckled with blue reflections. It is used above all for kitchen worktops, counters and prestigious cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is blue-black, with large crystals that show bluish reflections in the light. The intensity of the reflections varies between slabs and depends on the viewing angle. Polishing is the finish that best enhances the effect; matt finishes greatly diminish it.

Recommended uses

Ideal for kitchen worktops, bar counters, bathrooms, cladding and floors. It resists scratches, heat and household acids. It can be used outdoors, but the polished finish is better suited to vertical surfaces.

Care and maintenance

Clean with a neutral detergent and dry to avoid limescale marks, which are more visible on the dark background. A light protector is sufficient given its low porosity. Avoid products that leave waxy residues.

Pairings

  • white or light grey lacquered doors
  • brushed stainless steel
  • natural oak

FAQ

Are the blue reflections always visible?

They depend on the light and the angle: they are best appreciated on polished, well-lit surfaces.

Is it suitable for the kitchen?

Yes, it is very resistant; on polished black, however, fingerprints and marks show, so it needs wiping dry often.

Is it similar to labradorite?

The effect recalls the reflections of labradorite, but this is a granite in slab form, not a semi-precious stone.

How do I order it?
