Breccia Pernice marble: the complete guide

Breccia Pernice is a brecciated stone from Verona in pink, red and hazel tones. Its pattern recalls the plumage of a partridge ("pernice").

History and origin

It is quarried in the Verona area, which has supplied coloured stones such as Rosso Verona for centuries. It is a limestone breccia used in floors, stairs and cladding, also outdoors. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

Pink and hazel clasts enclosed in a reddish matrix, with a lively, irregular look. Slabs vary considerably.

Care and maintenance

Neutral detergents and water for routine cleaning; no acids or aggressive de-icing salts. Outdoors a water-repellent limits dirt, moss and absorption; indoors a stain-proof sealer protects tops and floors. The surface can be re-honed over time.
