Rosa Tepeaca: the complete guide
Rosa Tepeaca is a Mexican marble with a delicate pink background, appreciated for its brightness and understated elegance. It is chosen to bring warmth to bathrooms, floors and cladding without overly bright colours.
History and origin
It takes its name from Tepeaca, in the state of Puebla, one of the Mexican regions best known for quarrying marbles and onyxes. Mexico has a long tradition of stone working, and Puebla marbles have been exported for decades to the United States and Europe. Among the materials from this area, Rosa Tepeaca stands out for its pinkish shade. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is soft pink, at times tending towards cream, run through with lighter veins and slight clouding. The tone can vary from paler lots to deeper ones, so it is important to select slabs from the same block. Polishing intensifies the pink, while honing makes it dustier and more natural.

FAQ
How does it differ from Rosa Portogallo?
Both are pinkish marbles: Rosa Portogallo comes from the Iberian Peninsula, Rosa Tepeaca from Mexico. Tone and pattern vary for each lot, so comparing the slabs directly is the most reliable way to choose.
Can it be used for a floor?
Yes, indoors. For high-traffic areas a honed finish is advisable, as it shows signs of wear less than a polished one.
Is it good for a bathroom vanity top?
Yes, it is a very suitable application. Just avoid aggressive detergents and acidic limescale removers, preferring neutral products.
