Guide

Caliza Zarci: the complete guide

Caliza Zarci is a light beige Spanish limestone, neutral in tone and uniform in appearance. It is chosen for floors and cladding that call for a warm but discreet colour.

History and origin

Spain, especially in its south-eastern regions, has a long quarrying tradition of beige limestones, exported all over the world. Caliza Zarci belongs to this family of materials, used in residential and commercial construction. It is offered in slabs, tiles and made-to-measure pieces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is light beige with a fine, even grain, sometimes with small spots or barely perceptible fossil traces. Variation between slabs is moderate, with slight differences in tone. Honed or brushed, it has a soft, natural look; polished, it is warmer and more reflective.

Care and maintenance

Protect with a water- and oil-repellent impregnating sealer and clean with neutral stone products. Avoid limescale removers, vinegar and aggressive detergents. For floors, use doormats at entrances to reduce abrasion from sand.

FAQ

Is Caliza Zarci suitable for high-traffic floors?

Yes for residential and light commercial use; for very busy areas a honed or brushed finish is advisable, as it shows wear less.

How does it differ from Caliza Alba?

Zarci has a warmer beige tone, while Alba tends towards ivory white. Both are limestones and require similar care.

Can it be used in a shower?

Yes, with an impregnating sealer and a slip-resistant finish, avoiding acidic limescale-removing detergents.
