Peak Moor Sandstone: complete guide
Peak Moor Sandstone is a beige English sandstone with a typically British character. It is chosen for façades, paving and architectural details with a warm, natural look.
History and origin
It is a sandstone quarried in England, a country with a long tradition of building in sandstone for houses, churches and public buildings. Materials of this kind have been used for masonry, window sills, lintels and paving. Today Peak Moor Sandstone is used both for new buildings and for maintenance work on existing ones. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The colour is a warm beige, sometimes with slightly golden or grey tones, and a fine to medium grain. Darker veins and slight layering may appear, especially in cuts parallel to the quarry bed. Sawn and brushed finishes offer a clean look; split or chiselled ones recall traditional English masonry.

FAQ
Is it suitable for window sills and lintels?
Yes, these are typical applications of English sandstones; the thickness should be sized according to span and load.
Can it be used for outdoor paving?
Yes, for paths, patios and terraces with a non-slip finish; for vehicular areas adequate thicknesses are required.
How does it change over time?
