Chauvigny Stone: complete guide
Chauvigny Stone is a creamy white French limestone with a very fine grain. It is chosen for façades, cladding and carved elements that call for a homogeneous, bright surface.
History and origin
It takes its name from the town of Chauvigny, in west-central France, where an oolitic limestone long valued in construction is quarried. Its fine grain makes it suitable for building as well as for carving and sculpture. It is used in restoration and contemporary architecture. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The colour is creamy white, very uniform, with a fine grain and almost no pattern. Variations between slabs are minimal. Honed and brushed finishes enhance its softness, while carved work shows detail well.
