Crema Cenia: complete guide

Crema Cenia is a cream-coloured Spanish marble, appreciated for its warm tone and discreet pattern. It is used for elegant but understated floors and cladding.

History and origin

It belongs to the tradition of cream-coloured Spanish compact limestones, exported worldwide for residential and hotel construction. The name is linked to the Cenia (La Sénia) area, in eastern Spain. Like other creams, it is sold as marble although geologically it is a limestone. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is cream-beige with fine veins and darker speckles, sometimes with small fossils or threads of calcite. Slabs can vary from light cream to a deeper beige. Polishing brings out its depth; honed and antiqued finishes give a more rustic effect.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral products and water, drying any standing water. Treat with a stain-proofing impregnator, especially in bathrooms and busy areas. Re-polish if dull marks appear.

Pairings

  • Honey oak
  • Brass or bronze taps
  • Warm white walls and lime plaster

FAQ

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

Yes, for floors, walls and vanity tops, with an impregnator and non-acidic detergents.

What is the difference from Crema Marfil?

Both are Spanish creams; Crema Cenia tends to have a fine, speckled pattern, but it should be compared on the slabs actually available.

Which finishes are recommended for floors?

Honed and antiqued are the most practical; polished is more refined but shows scratches and dullness more.
