Galala Beige: complete guide
Galala Beige is a light beige Egyptian limestone sold as marble. It is chosen for its uniform tone and good balance between appearance and cost.
History and origin
It is quarried in Egypt, in the Galala mountains area, and is one of the most exported Egyptian materials. Geologically it is a compact limestone, often with small fossils or inclusions. It is widely used for floors and cladding in residential and hotel construction. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is light beige and fairly uniform, with small dots, patches or fossil traces. Some slabs show fine darker veins. Polishing makes it look warmer, honing lighter and more natural.

Recommended uses
Suitable for floors, stairs, wall cladding and bathrooms. Not recommended for kitchen worktops or for exteriors exposed to frost. In high-traffic areas a honed finish is better.
Care and maintenance
Protect with a water- and oil-repellent after installation. Clean with neutral detergents, without vinegar or limescale removers. On polished floors, plan periodic maintenance.

Is the colour consistent?
Among beiges it is fairly uniform, but tone and inclusions change between batches: for large surfaces a single batch is advisable.
Is it suitable for hotel floors?
Yes indoors, with a suitable finish and a good maintenance plan.
Can I use it outdoors?
We do not recommend it where there is frost: outdoors, choose purpose-suited stones or granites.
