G603 Granite: complete guide
G603 is a light grey Chinese granite with a medium to fine grain and a salt-and-pepper look. It is chosen for its neutrality, good resistance and value for money.
History and origin
The code G603 follows the coding system used to identify many Chinese granites. It is one of the most widespread granites in the world for paving, kerbs, street furniture and worktops, thanks to its availability and low cost. Characteristics may vary slightly depending on the quarry and batch. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is light grey with white, grey and black crystals evenly distributed. Variability between slabs is low, making it suitable for large surfaces. Polished, it looks darker and glossier; flamed or bush-hammered, it becomes light, almost white.

FAQ
What does the code G603 mean?
It is a commercial code used to identify Chinese granites; it indicates the type of stone but does not by itself guarantee uniform quality, which is why it is advisable to check the batch.
Is it suitable for outdoor paving that takes vehicles?
Yes, with adequate thicknesses (generally from 3 cm upwards on a rigid base, more when laid on sand) and an anti-slip finish such as flamed or bush-hammered.
Can rust appear?
In some batches of light granites small marks due to iron-bearing minerals may appear; an impregnating sealer and choosing selected material reduce the risk.
