G623 Granite: complete guide

G623 is a light grey Chinese granite with medium-grained white, grey and black crystals. It is valued for its neutral colour and uniformity, suitable even for large-quantity supplies.

History and origin

It belongs to the Chinese granites identified by a numerical code, widely used in international construction. It is often offered as an economical alternative to European light grey granites for floors, stairs and cladding. The tone can be slightly cooler or warmer depending on the batch. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The light grey background is enlivened by black specks and white feldspars, sometimes with a faint pinkish tinge. The pattern is regular and variability between slabs is limited. Polished, it shows a stronger grey, while flaming makes it light and rough.

FAQ

What is the difference between G623 and G603?

Both are Chinese light greys; G623 often has slightly larger crystals and a slightly lighter background. It is advisable to compare samples for your own project.

Is it suitable for stairs?

Yes, with flamed treads or anti-slip grooves it is a robust solution for indoor and outdoor stairs.

Does it need treating?

It is not compulsory, but an impregnating sealer helps prevent oil stains and dirt, especially on light floors and worktops.
