Helidon Sandstone: complete guide
Helidon Sandstone is a sandstone from Queensland in cream and light beige tones. It is chosen for elegant cladding and architectural details that call for a bright, fine-grained stone.
History and origin
It is quarried in Queensland, in eastern Australia, and is traditionally associated with the region's architecture, particularly the historic buildings of the Brisbane area. It has been used for façades, plinths and decoration. Today it is used for restoration and new projects looking for a local, recognisable material. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is cream or light beige, sometimes with pinkish or yellow tones, and a fine, regular grain. Ochre or rust-coloured veins and bands can be seen, more or less marked depending on the block. A matt honed finish gives a refined look; a sandblasted or bush-hammered one brings out the grain.

Care and maintenance
Apply a breathable water repellent to outdoor surfaces and clean with water and neutral detergents. Rust or vegetation stains should be treated with specific stone products, tested on a hidden area.
