Juparana Dourado Granite: complete guide

Juparana Dourado is a golden-yellow Brazilian granite with a wavy, veined pattern. It is chosen for its natural movement, closer to a marble than to a classic speckled granite.

History and origin

The term Juparana denotes a family of Brazilian stones with an oriented structure, often gneissic in nature, sold as granites. The Dourado variety stands out for its yellow and golden tones. It is used mainly in slabs for tops, cladding and floors. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The golden background shows wavy bands of beige, reddish brown and grey, with crystals of varying size. The pattern is very lively and every slab is different, so it is important to choose the lot and plan the layout carefully. Polishing enhances the veining; matt finishes make it softer.

Recommended uses

It is suitable for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom vanity tops, floors and cladding where the pattern can be shown off. It can also be used outdoors for thresholds and cladding. On very large floors the variable pattern requires a well-thought-out layout.

Care and maintenance

Protect with a stain-proofing impregnator, especially on the lighter areas. Clean with neutral detergents and wipe up liquids and grease. Avoid aggressive products that can alter the polish.

Pairings

  • natural wood or cream lacquered doors
  • bronze and copper for lamps and handles
  • cotto or dark wood floors

FAQ

Is Juparana Dourado a true granite?

Commercially it is classified as granite, but geologically it is a rock with an oriented, gneissic structure: it nevertheless has comparable hardness and resistance.

Can I choose the pattern of the slabs?

Yes, and it is recommended: the movement changes greatly from slab to slab, so it is best to see photos of the lot before ordering.

Is it suitable for a kitchen?

Yes, it resists food acids and heat well; a stain-proofing treatment makes it more practical.

How do I order it?

Write to us with sizes and finish: we will send you a quote and photos of the slabs, including for assessing book-matching.
