History and origin
It comes from Brazil and belongs to the family of yellow and gold granites. The name recalls Rio de Janeiro, whose inhabitants are called cariocas. It is used mainly for kitchen worktops, bathrooms and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The golden yellow background is speckled with dark and sometimes reddish patches, with a medium to coarse grain. The density of the patches varies between slabs. Polishing enhances the golden colour; matt finishes dull it slightly.

Care and maintenance
Treat with a water- and oil-repellent protector after installation. Clean with a neutral detergent. Renew the protector when water no longer beads.

Is it suitable for modern kitchens?
It goes better with classic or warm kitchens, but it can also work with smooth white cabinet doors.
Are the red patches defects?
No, they are natural crystals of the rock and part of the pattern.
