Karnezeika: complete guide

Karnezeika is a compact Greek limestone with a uniform light beige background. It is chosen for its clean appearance and the possibility of polishing it like a marble.

History and origin

It comes from the Peloponnese, in southern Greece, a region with a long tradition of quarrying limestones and marbles. The name recalls its place of origin. It is sold on the international market mainly for interior floors and cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

It has a light beige background with a very fine grain, sometimes crossed by thin veins or darker specks. Variability between slabs is generally moderate. Polished, it acquires a good shine; honed or antiqued, it takes on a softer, more natural look.

FAQ

Is Karnezeika a marble?

It is sometimes called that commercially, but it is a compact limestone: it polishes well like a marble and, like marble, is sensitive to acids.

Is it suitable for flooring throughout the house?

Yes, it is a frequent choice for residential floors; for very busy entrances a honed or brushed finish, less prone to marks, is preferable.

Can it be used in a shower?

Yes, treated with an impregnator and with a brushed or non-slip finish for the shower tray.

How can I order it?

It is ordered on request: tell us the square metres, thickness and finish, and we will send you a quotation and photos of the available slabs.
