Marron Cohiba
Guide

Marron Cohiba: the complete guide

Marron Cohiba is a dark brown marble, in a colour reminiscent of tobacco, marked by white and beige veins. It is chosen as a deeper alternative to classic browns such as Emperador.

History and origin

It is an imported material widely available on the international market, whose name recalls the warm tones of tobacco and dark wood. It is used in bathrooms, lobbies and fine furnishings, often paired with warm woods and metals. Its sometimes brecciated structure requires careful slab selection and, if necessary, resin filling carried out at the factory. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is deep brown with lighter hazelnut areas. The white and beige veins, thin or web-like, create a sometimes brecciated pattern. The density of the veins can vary considerably from slab to slab; polished, the brown looks warm and deep, while brushed lightens it slightly.

Recommended uses

Suitable for cladding, bathrooms, washbasin tops, fireplaces, interior floors and decorative details. Avoid it outdoors and on heavily used kitchen worktops, as it is sensitive to acids and frost.

Care and maintenance

Clean with pH-neutral products specific for marble, without acids or abrasives. Protect with a stain-proofing impregnator, especially on bathroom tops exposed to cosmetics. Any dullness caused by acids can be restored by re-polishing.

Pairings

  • Crema Marfil marble for borders and inlays
  • satin brass
  • teak or iroko wood

FAQ

What is the difference between Marron Cohiba and Emperador Dark?

They have a similar character, a brown background with light veins; Marron Cohiba tends to have a warmer background and bolder veins, but the comparison should be made on samples because both vary a lot.

Can it be used for a bathroom top?

Yes, it is a frequent choice. We recommend sealing and neutral detergents to preserve the polish.

Are the white veins weak points?

The calcite veins are normally well cemented; on more brecciated slabs, a resin and, if needed, a mesh on the back are applied at the factory for greater stability.
