Nero Fossile is a dark marble speckled with light fossils, such as shells and organic fragments, that tell the story of its sedimentary origin. It is chosen for characterful surfaces, where the natural pattern takes centre stage.
History and origin
It is a dark, fossil-rich limestone, sold as marble because of its ability to take an excellent polish. Rocks of this type formed on ancient seabeds, where the shells of organisms accumulated in the sediments. In the Marmi di Carrara catalogue it is listed among the exclusive materials. Look and veining
The background is black or anthracite grey, studded with white and grey fossils of different shapes and sizes, sometimes accompanied by thin veins. The density of fossils changes between slabs, so selection is important for a homogeneous effect. Polished, it has a sharp, deep contrast; honed or brushed, it tends towards dark grey and brings out the texture.

Care and maintenance
On polished black, limescale marks and fingerprints show: dry with a microfibre cloth. Neutral detergents, a stain-proofing impregnator and no limescale remover. The polish can be restored professionally.
